Guru Gobind Singh Ji describes the countless ways beings suffer and wander through existence. Some cry out in pain, some weep, some drown, and others perish in fire.
People follow different paths and religions - living on the banks of the Ganges, in Mecca or Medina, or wandering as ascetics - yet many remain lost in भ्रम (delusion).
Others endure severe hardships, punishment, and even death. The concluding message is that external conditions, religious identity, travel, or physical austerities alone do not bring liberation.
Without true spiritual wisdom and realization of the Divine, people continue to wander in ignorance and suffer the consequences of their own delusion.
ਜੇਤਾ ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਭਰਿਆ ਤੇਤੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
As the seas and oceans are overflowing with water, so vast are my own sins.

O Lord! Please, shower me with Your mercy, and take pity upon me. I am a sinking stone -please carry me across.
