Nah! You can tell your golf friends they can add more lighting to their courses.
For the rest of us:
Permanent DST creates no extra daylight. It only moves one hour of existing light from the morning into the evening so businesses—chiefly the golf industry and related retail—can capture more high-value after-work spending.
Roughly 8–9% of Americans play golf on a course at all. The frequent evening players who generate the extra rounds are a much smaller slice—low single-digit percentage of the population, disproportionately higher-income with flexible schedules. Over 90% of people get no meaningful benefit from that shift.
For the majority, permanent “DST” means darker winter mornings and less morning light—the strongest daily signal for aligning circadian rhythms. That produces poorer sleep quality, more fatigue, a more beaten appearance, faster biological aging markers, weakened immune function, and lower testosterone and libido in men. These are predictable results of systematically reducing morning light for most of the country so a narrow commercial interest can sell more evening activity. Major medical organizations have opposed permanent “DST” for years on exactly these grounds.
This is the exact moment Woodstock 99 lost control of the event...and for some reason as a 41 year old man sitting in my home office I now feel like breaking stuff.
@bryan_johnson If we compare your facial age, baldness, and teeth to other 49-year-olds, you look much better. Keep it up, B John. Stay strong—stronger!
@elonmusk@cb_doge Finally, a real competition! Thank you, StarLon Misk, for bringing competition to the world instead of the disguised “competition” we had before your era. 🤣
The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.
People across America are waking up this morning grumpy at losing an hour because of “springing forward” to daylight saving time.
This week I once again filed my bill to end this “obsolete, confusing and unhealthy” practice. https://t.co/zwmOGBFJpj
