Wagler, Acuff, and Brown all have pretty high ceilings. The issue with Acuff is that you'd likely have to reshape parts of your roster to maximize his development and fit. Wagler and Brown, on the other hand, are much easier to plug into almost any situation without needing major accommodations.
The whole BPA argument despite the fit being bad, only makes sense when the gap between said players is substantial. Taking a guy that’s 5 % better, but doesn’t fit on your team, is actually dumb roster building.
@dave_south39949@MadManLeaks I'm just telling you what they are planning to do.
Whether I think it's a good idea or not is irrelevant.
Clippers are not going to spend the next 3 years collecting assets.
They have been doing it for 2 years already.
They are going to take a big swing this off-season or next
@dave_south39949@MadManLeaks Clippers are not rebuilding, they are maneuvering to have max cap space a year from now.
So they can get back to title contention a year from now.
@dave_south39949@MadManLeaks Clippers are not going to rebuild.
Kawhi will be on the team come October.
Clippers have 0 interest in being a bad team. Below is why⬇️

The Clippers don’t have the luxury to keep flipping assets and stockpiling picks hoping they’ll be back in contention 4-5 years from now. From what people around the organization say, patience is being given, but only if there’s a clear plan for rapid contention.
Ownership is in its 70s, and urgency is a real factor. They’re also not planning on joining the NBA’s collective TV package being shopped as a replacement for the RSN model, so maintaining their own foothold in the market matters.
And in a city dominated by the Lakers, the traction the Clippers have built over the last decade isn’t something they want to give up. The front office is operating under pressure to figure it out ASAP, not tear it down and hope for a payoff years down the road.
@FlemingsEnjoyer@MadManLeaks You're right. But if Harden was still a Clipper today and seeing what the landscape is now, they might feel different.
Why would you even try to compete?
You can say that about a lot of teams.
You try because you never know what can happen in the playoffs.
Look at the Knicks.
@MadManLeaks@Rydawgg8008 I would be reluctant to trade a 5th overall pick in a deep draft for a 37 year old and some unknown 1st's.
But I think the Clippers would do it.
@FlemingsEnjoyer@MadManLeaks If Harden didn't ask out, there's a chance the Clippers re-sign him.
Would the Clippers win the Chip with KD? No, but they would be the 3rd best team in the west and have a shot.
And just as good a shot as any team not named SAS or OKC.
@dave_south39949@MadManLeaks You can make the same case that 28 other teams can't compete no matter the moves they make this off-season.
Considering they don't own their own 1st till 2030.
The 2029 off-season is when they should start a rebuild.
Not now.
@Alex_PorterEnt@JustMy2Sense_@LAClippers Mikel is the guy.
Becuase unlike Acuff, He has size and can play on or off ball.
He also plays more like an NBA guard. He gets to the rim or shoots 3's, no mid range.
