Congratulations to the @PresidencyZA, @IDCSouthAfrica, the Social Employment Network Team, all the Strategic Implementing Partners and everyone on the ground doing #workforcommongood. The JICP is proud to be a part of this initiative to create real impact in communities. #SEF
We are humbled and motivated by the global recognition given to the Social Employment Fund - a flagship of our Presidential Employment Stimulus – at the Bay Urban Visioning Awards in Bilbao, Spain.
The Social Employment Fund has created public employment opportunities for more than 100 000 people in more than 6 000 sites across the country, supporting civil society organisations to create employment in communities.
The Fund has been selected from more than 100 submissions from all over the world to receive the Global Prosperity Catalyst Award. We appreciate this recognition.
Congratulations are due to all the partners who have made this initiative a success and we celebrate the contribution made to our society by the tens of thousands of South Africans who have benefited from this programme.
Let’s keep it up.
As part of the JICP’s objective to create a Clean, Safe and Welcoming Inner City for all, we have partnered with Region F CRUM and Joburg Central SAPs to assist the Law Enforcement Task Team (LETT). A dedicated team of WozaWorkers have facilitated three arrests since 21 August.
Thanks Mélanie Joly, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, for seeing how we’re working with nature in Alexandra in the #SUNCASA project.

It was wonderful to join @CleanCitySA1 & take part in the big @Jozi_My_Jozi clean up. We took the opportunity to clean around the Jukskei daylight point. A lot of illegal dumping means this is a really tough spot to clean. We also handed out bin bags. #MandelaDay
This Youth Day we are celebrating the ingenuity, creativity & enthusiasm of our #SEF participants. We have heard so many inspiring stories from our participants & can’t wait to share them. Thank you to the Social Employment Network for visiting our SEF programmes this week.
Through SEF, SSCN has provided coaching with the benefit of improving physical health & self-esteem, providing safe & nurturing environments for children after school. Participating in team sports has strengthened the community & coaches have seen an improvement in academics.
