i’m still bullish on memecoins even in a bear market because at least they’re honest. everyone knows it’s vaporware powered by attention. a lot of major altcoins are the same thing hidden behind “tech” and they’re taking a beating as people realize it. at least memecoins don’t hide it and we love them for what they are.
@CookerFlips i mean you can basically skip watching the whole regular season of nba/nfl. that seems like a bigger waste of time cause they never get relegated. football is the culmination of many games of pain, suffering, promotion, and relegation to reach a moment of triumph
cielings are def way lower than what the used to be. money is smarter now and no longer willing to risk as much, but the good aspect is that when a really great narrative comes out then all that sidelined capital will bid something up
nothing comes easy, maybe right now you might find better RR in perps, but luckily both can coexist and memecoins remain attractive because making a big sum with little capital is still possible
i hear a lot of people complaining about memecoins being a solved game, but i think a lot of that comes from everyone being hyperfocused on tweet plays.
tweet plays are mostly solved when you have 1,000 people and bots all trying to get the same entry at the same time. you are probably not faster than them, and if you lose chasing those plays, it is kinda your own fault because most of them end the same way.
when everyone gets the same information at the same time, it stops being an edge and just becomes a race to extract first.
focus on finding narratives. the best narratives are subtle at first, but they become more obvious as attention compounds and price goes up.
vamps are impossible to stop tbh. ive tried thinking about solutions but there really isnt one. anything that raises the cost to deploy just removes incentive to deploy and so there are no coins. if one launchpad has restrictions then another launchpad just wont have them and then you kill your own launchpad
i hear you. for a casual memecoin trader it sucks bidding something thats good and then getting vamped.
ever since vamps became more frequent i have to anticipate if a vamp might happen. it frustrates me too but you have to think defensively and if the pvp is too much then just sell and dont participate in it
you are totally valid. ill keep it short but some narratives that i find early i try to think of potential catalysts and if its unique enough to get spoken about in a news cycle and will lots of people have takes/opinions on the topic.
some are funny and fit into the overal meta and sentiment of the market/crypto. like if lots of people are talking about perps and i see a perp adjacent narrative then ill bid that because its relevant to what lots of people are talking about
some other narratives are like stupid stuff that are just funny and give you a chuckle and so i suspect that other people will get a chuckle from it too
the best narratives are the ones which create meta's and cant be compared to something else (these are super rare). like for example nieztchean created a bunch of betas, white whale had endless betas, and so did the 7 wanderers. till this day we still see coins with names derived from these coins.
if you can distinguish the value of something early then you start to win. when i buy coins i try to envision as fast as possible it's potential life cycle. sometimes im right sometimes im wrong. but learning what narratives fall into what buckets is a valuable skill
@trunoest Yeah BNB tweets plays were insane, but now everyone fantasizes about being the fastest and first txing a tweet play. It's the most gratifying thing, but it's mostly solved and abused by deployer bundles and supply merchants
@0xrell if it needs certain people to ape then the life cycle probably wasnt going to be long to begin with. if it's truly good it'll go regardless of who is in
