@MetrobusTransit had a bus “in training” pass me twice today (thorburn and old broad cove) while cycling. Please pass kudos, they were so patient, waited until it was safe and passed with lots of space. I hope they continue this into their career!
@mmburton @ianfroude would love to see minor upgrades to existing multiuse trails while the bulk of the bike master plan is on hold. The crosswalks at bay bulls rd and brookfield rd are so challenging to cross as a cyclist, any plans for lights or making these multi use?
Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.
Chantal Peticlerc, one of Canada's most greatest athletes with 14 gold and 21 medals won in her career, would have made $375,000 for all of her podium performances at the five Paralympics in which she competed.
Instead she didn’t receive a single dollar.
@PeteSoucy @jrwheels82 @KJeefe @PedestrianTrail Big difference. It’s not a bicycle as defined in the HTA “a device propelled by human power upon which a person may ride having 2 wheels in tandem” its a motorized off-road vehicle and is absolutely not included in the bike plan. I think we’d all agree it shouldn’t be there
@PeteSoucy @jrwheels82 @GeoffBudden @KJeefe @PedestrianTrail There is far more purple, or road corridors shown on the map. This is likely where they were implying safe, higher speed training activities can occur. Highly unlikely that anyone who wanted to move at speeds greater than 20 km/hr would be on multi use trails for tri training
@GeoffBudden@PeteSoucy Lol. You guys either kicking people out of, or asking people to leave the PPT group when they didn’t agree with your view set the tone pretty early about how willing you’d be to have open conversations and work towards a solution for all.
We need strong leadership at the local level to grow cycling into a viable mode of transportation. We asked candidates in the St. John’s municipal election some questions to get a sense of their vision for transportation in the city.

Who would have thought that 1 yr ago when I dusted off my 1999 mtn bike I’d be here having finished the @BonRexton grand fondo! It’s been a great year rediscovering cycling, which I never would have done if it weren’t for the safety of our multi use trails!
Each year, on the windiest day of the year, the Dutch Headwind Cycling Championships take place on the Oosterscheldekering Storm Surge Barrier.
Over 200 competitors ride the 8.5 km course against 100+ km/hr winds on upright single-speed bikes. Watch more: https://t.co/h2sVb6819T
@rgwhitaker@BicycleNL @VeloCanadaBikes @TheWarOnCars @CityofStJohns You probably saw me huffin and puffin at the top of temperance! Thankfully there were no cars at the top today but it’s usually not the case. Would love to see improvements!
@MeghanHollett@townofparadise I passed you while riding today! Trail conditions were fantastic and so many cyclist and happy pedestrians. I long for more of this in St. John’s!
