@The_Feminist_TM @aproko871 I think its more like public schools would become privitized. Governent vouchers don't turn something into a public institution. Pell grants don't turn private colleges into public colleges. Medicare doesn't make doc's public employees.
@BarbaraKJanik Yes. But only if necessary. The tax system we have now is unfair. We are wasting $ on things that don't feed or provide for people. We are failing to tax the ultra-rich. We are throwing away money on useless projects and fraud. Fix those things and if I still need to pay more. OK
@realgirl_fieri My husband loved me and my body before, during and after pregnancy. That is real love. Whether I could learn to love and accept my own changing body is a different story.
@realgirl_fieri Women should have all those things regardless of whether their pre-baby bodies return. For many it won't happen regardless of what they do. Husbands should know that going in and agree to it as part of "for better or for worse."
@GigaBasedDad So glad to see Ayn Rand here. I would add some Carl Marx just to understand the arguments the other side is making. I enjoyed the Iliad far more then the Odyssey, but Odyssey was great.
@richmondie@grim_prime@PhilosopherJoeC Morality doesn't need to be objective for that. It is a set of norms determined by a society to make living together workable. It probably differs slightly from culture to culture, but some things are pretty stable. I don't know why we would need anything other than that.
@grim_prime@richmondie@PhilosopherJoeC What meaning does morality need to have? What is the purpose of declaring something immoral? Do we even need the concept of morality at all?
@the_one_randy @Cluffalo Please explain what headship entails. Does it mean she keeps quiet and doesn't express any views? Does it mean she expresses her views but defers to him when it comes to decision making? Is there something I'm missing about it?
@ENSemoji@JoelWBerry No, its not. I can't read all those small pictures you posted so I'm not sure what they are trying to portray. But it doesn't matter. I know I'm right. The world just isn't there yet.
@ENSemoji@JoelWBerry I'm Jewish. I feel no "pride" in being Jewish. I didn't do anything to earn it. But I'm conscious of the threats against me because of it. If people would just leave each other alone, we wouldn't need all this "race consciousness."
@JoelWBerry I agree. I really can't understand when people say they are proud to be a woman or to be a specific race or religion. I'm not proud of any of those things. I did nothing to earn them. I'm not ashamed either. Its like saying I'm proud I have brown hair. I'm proud of accomplishment
