@ThePinkDalek@kprather88 Ok I concede. Since I’m from Orange County I confess I don’t know what a Balencia outlet is. But I do know that anyone who thinks all of oc is a wealthy monolith is probably a moron phd who wears a mask in her car.
@moseskagan Fundamental question: why does affordable housing have to be new? Gov can buy existing stock and run it as it likes. Would be 10x cheaper than building new “affordable” housing.
@conor64@Jesse_Leg Trump has a few conservative accomplishments and has also set the movement back in other areas. It’s almost as if he is a flawed man without serious principles. Which means he has a lot in common with just about every politician of the era.
@Sammy_Roth 60% of the trash generated by the Philippines flows into the ocean. The Philippines is 20x the size of LA. Just perhaps, the mayor of LA should focus on local issues, like crime and potholes. And if you are trying to save the earth focus on the worst offenders first.
@CaitlinPacific Imagine trying to interview everyone on skid row to determine why they are each “unhoused.” 95% would either be violent or unresponsive. 5% would claim to be working. This is why “homeless” data is severely flawed and the bad policies follow the bad data.
@evanjconrad Just say the words “affordable housing” over and over again until you move the market. Or, change more laws to punish landlords and favor tenants. I’m sure that will create more rental housing.
@moseskagan@Sanjeevbhatiala Letting tenant advocates take the lead in landlord/tenant public policy is like letting diners write the rules for the restaurant industry. Steaks can cost no more than $5, waiters should make 100k, and no penalty for dining and ditching.
@jaymart222 Then as a property owner your insurance costs go up, just because you have stairs and they are becoming targets for ambulance chasing attorneys and plaintiffs. If more juries called bs maybe insurance companies would grow a spine.
