@itswpceo @stats_feed And in this group of former French colony illiteracy, 8 of the worst 11 countries, the most surprising to me was Ivory Coast or Côte d’Ivoire. As it is supposedly the most “advanced” Francophone country in Africa it has a literacy rate of only 43 percent.

@itswpceo @stats_feed On this list the most glaring aspect is that of the 11 countries with the world’s lowest literacy rates 8 of them were Former French Colonies! If nothing else I thought the French are very proud of their language. So did they only teach it to the elite in these places?

@itswpceo @stats_feed I would hope Prigozin’s Wagner Group can do something good and export teachers from Russia to increase literacy rates in Mali and CAR even if it means creating the first generation to be educated and fluent in Russian. The stats show that the French did not care to educate.
