@Dudeinnippon Yeah it’s not only the raw stats, but also the iconic moments like the WBC final, 50/50 game, 40/40 walk-off grandslam game, NLCS Game 4, WS Game 3, etc. No other player has that many iconic, historic performances
@BaseUnstitched Just for the sake of discussion, Ohtani also has the highest OBP and wRC+ in the NL as a hitter.
I understand it’s now the hipster, contrarian take to pick apart everything Ohtani does, but at a certain point it just gets ridiculous
@Dudeinnippon Yeah the ceiling is so absurdly high for him that even he probably never feels satisfi. Potential to hit 60 HR in a year, steal around 60 bases, win a Cy Young, almost got triple crown in 2024 as a lead off hitter, etc.
@MaybeDalao@gundamm033@fried_pig As long as he doesn’t start swinging out of his shoes. As long as the OPS keeps going up, that’s the most important thing
@TJStats@freddyptruther Go look at their hitting fWAR. Ohtani has a big edge over him. He leads the NL in OBP and is a considerably better base runner than Schwarber. Just an all-around more valuable DH and leadoff hitter.
@schwarbombz Ohtani is leading the league in OBP and has a higher hitting WAR than Schwarber lol He’s a better overall offensive player, which includes base running. It’s not just about home runs
@BlueJaysExpress@Kirkyisking He literally has the highest WAR of all position players, above the $500 million man. And his defense has been better than Clement’s this year lol
