A few years ago, my son and I took a trip to Washington, D. C. and Annapolis, Maryland. A highlight of that trip was visiting Arlington Cemetery.
Those acres, blanketed by stones of remembrance, bear silent witness to those who teach us that human life is not about what we can get for ourselves but what we can do for others, even if that means giving up our life that others might live.
My son, Luke, said it well: “The most important people in our lives are the ones whom we can look at and say, ‘My life is better because of what you have done for me.’ Be that person.”
Today, we thank God for all the military men and women who were “that person.” May our remembrance of them today lead us into a life more focused on others and less on self.
BREAKING: DeSantis tells lawmakers they have his full support to end property taxes statewide
"Taxpayers [are] squeezed by increasing local government property taxes...taxpayers need relief. You buy a home, you pay off the mortgage, and yet you still have to write a check to the government every year just for the privilege of living on your own private property."
"Is the property yours, or are you just renting it from the government?"
"Please know: you have my support in this endeavor [to end property taxes]."
