Gaza’s torture dungeons are now in hospitals: I just spent hours speaking to a dear friend (let’s call him Adam) in Gaza who is a humanitarian activist in a displacement camp, after he was arrested by Hamas’s fascist brigades and interrogated viciously in the al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. This hospital, like all of Gaza’s medical facilities, has become a police, intelligence, prison, and torture center run by Hamas to ensure it maintains its grip on the people of Gaza.
He had no formal charge, except that one of Hamas’s intelligence agents/informants called in a tip about Adam “being in touch with suspicious external entities.” Adam is part of a network that services the humanitarian needs of civilians in a massive camp and works with international NGOs to deliver food, clothing, and a range of essential supplies to the people.
He described being in a metal cage, with 12 other people, inside the hospital, and a large piece of cloth covered them as medical staff whizzed by, and patients could be heard nearby. They were crammed in this cage, sitting down, with no food, bathroom trips, or access to light, except when they underwent rounds of interrogation and beatings. Adam gave the exact location I shared two days ago in a Tweet based on a conversation with another Gaza activist trying to gather stories of what Hamas is doing to ensure it’s grip on power is sustained at all costs: behind the outpatient department, the Yassin Center is where the cage was located, while the torture and interrogations were happening in the Hind Dagmah Medical Center.
Hundreds of Gazans are being captured, interrogated, tortured, imprisoned, and threatened every single day at the hands of Hamas in hospitals, which are all now sustained by the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) and a whole host of international NGOs and nonprofits. It’s time to pull the curtains back and uncover the horrendous atrocities that a vile terrorist organization is committing in facilities that Western taxpayers fund to heal people, not enable Islamist fascists.
It’s time for the US Central Command, the UN, the Arab League, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and every nation involved in the ceasefire to put Hamas on notice and say, “stop the use of medical facilities for terrorism.” It's time to get Hamas out of Gaza’s medical facilities – this has to be part of the International Stabilization Force’s (ISF) mandate: take on Hamas, fight the terrorists, eliminate them, destroy their tunnels and infrastructure, and end their ability to use billions of aid money to entrench their rule which is in service of their ultimate goal: the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamist fascist state.
