When I’ve watched what Mississippi State is doing through the first 4 weeks- and I can’t help but smile when I think about Isaac Smith.
A young man who was recruited by the late great Mike Leach- who blossomed into a fearless leader since arriving in 2023. Another Mississippi kid whose loyalty for his team never once wavered. He stuck around because he believed in @Coach_Leb, and he knew what Starkville was capable of. Special player, special person- and I’m so glad he and others who laid the foundation are seeing their work pay off
Now *that* is what it’s all about, if you ask me. 🏴☠️❤️ @HailStateFB
Man, to see how they coach together is incredible.
I'm sure it wasn't easy for Arnett to come back to the place he used to be HC, but the culture Lebby has created is perfect.
Things aren't perfect yet, but man are they improving fast.
Love this staff & this team.
A 5-foot-2 principal heard gunshots in her own building and made a choice that most people would never make.
Dawn Hochsprung was coming out of a staff meeting at Sandy Hook Elementary when the sound hit her ears. She didn't lock the door. She didn't wait. She moved—straight into the hallway to face what was happening.
School psychologist Mary Sherlach was with her.
Within seconds, they found him. The intruder was feet away. Hochsprung didn't hesitate. She lunged, trying to bring him down herself.
She was killed instantly. So was Sherlach.
But in those final moments, Hochsprung's hand found the school's intercom system, leaving it open. Every classroom in the building heard what followed. Teachers with no warning suddenly had seconds to react—hiding children in closets, locking doors, saving lives—because of the sound coming through that speaker.
Her family would later hope that for just one second, the shooter felt fear seeing a determined 5-foot-2 woman running straight at him instead of away.
Hochsprung had only been principal for two years. In that short time, she'd made building safety a priority and become the "Sandy Hook Book Fairy," getting kids excited about reading. Those who knew her said she was born for this work.
A university would later honor her memory by naming a center for school safety and mental health after her.
She had every reason to stay safe that morning. Instead, she ran toward danger—and the warning she left behind saved children she never got to see grow up.
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, on the American Dream and the values that made America successful 🇺🇸
“I met with Mayor Mamdani the other day, and I said everything I wanted to say. I told him, I salute that flag every morning. Your parents came here for the same reason my grandparents came here. They were Greek immigrants who never finished high school… for the freedom and justice that this country means. People move here to be American.
Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
I remind people that the Constitution is a legal document, but the principles on which it is based are the most important thing. Those principles and values are freedom of speech, freedom of religion, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
The pursuit of happiness to them did not mean, ‘Are you happy?’ It meant, have a purpose. You could be an artist. You could be a farmer. You could be a military officer. You could be a caregiver. It meant to make the world a better place, to try to create equal opportunity for people.
We don’t teach those values anymore, and they are the foundation that made this country great.”
We are proud to have our Mississippi Institute on Disabilities and ACCESS program featured in Mississippi L.O.V.E., a new documentary project following a community of practitioners, caregivers, and people with disabilities in Mississippi.

Declining continuing jobless claims implies strong labor market and strong economy. It also means higher int rates and higher inflation.

Bill Belichick on Dak Prescott's "tremendous" career ("Let's Go" on SiriusXM):
Bill Belichick: “Prescott’s had a tremendous career. A lot of times maybe underappreciated. But he’s been a pillar for that organization for a long time. Dak became the all-time touchdown leader for the Cowboys. That's a pretty big statement there. Just the career that he's had, off to another good start this year, I think you gotta recognize what he's done over, not just yesterday, but his whole career. It's impressive."
In partnership with the Bagley College of Engineering, we enjoyed an evening of connecting with fellow Bulldogs & sharing the exciting things happening in both of our colleges.
A special thank you to Joe and Kerri Assell for graciously opening their home & hosting us.
Our DAWGS are back home Saturday night against Missouri.

Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor tonight in a 41-34 win over South Carolina: 18/26, 251 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT
Cowboys QB and former Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott on Taylor earlier this week:
“We’ve shared some messages. Definitely have watched him play. Talked to numbers of people that obviously know him that work hand in hand with him that only have amazing things to say. Makes me more of a fan of him. I just know from our short conversations through text and just hearing his interviews, I love the mentality, I love the belief in himself, what he’s allowed Mississippi State to feel again, the excitement. I’m as excited about that program as I’ve ever, ever been since I was playing.”
