I’ve seen the same nonsense said about me for 15 years 🤣
Socialism is about obligations to others, a politics that protects the vulnerable and a pleasant public realm - rather than thinking society can operate along the lines of ‘fuck you dad!’ from when you were 13.
@jj_bull I think the best case you can make is that Adu has lost control of the ball with a heavy touch, so at that point it’s just two players going for a free ball. With that lens, Konsa is first to the ball and Adu goes into him
@adb0wen It doesn’t even make sense as a game. Given you know traitors will be replaced if you vote them off, there’s no advantage to doing so. You just need to make sure you’re not booted. No one seems to realise this.
@YoungThacko@ruddlesneil It’s wonderful! We’re staying in the Meatpacking District - so any bars round that way would be great. And noted on Beer Culture, we’re off to see Chicago on Friday so will check it out
Lord Alli gave money to Labour/Starmer because he liked them. It wasn’t because he wanted to change their position. Their position was the reason he gave them the money. The lobbying industry wouldn’t exist if you could get what you wanted by chucking the PM £15k.
@DanielPriestley As a consultant, it’s fine, but it needs a lot of direction. It’s like working with a very diligent but stupid junior. If you give it precise instructions, you’ll get half-decent output. But the instructions are the hard part (i.e. require thought) the rest just saves your time.
The two child benefit cap and the private school VAT policy are the same thing. Both a bit dodgy on policy grounds but show Labour is serious about [insert whatever it’s serious about].
Biggest problem for the Tories will be regaining trust in their credibility to govern, which will be a mammoth task. Made even harder by a having a party now (if it ever was) not stacked with talent.
Not sure the Tories need to choose between tacking right or returning to the centre to be electable. A Cameroonian-type offer with a commitment to bring down immigration and keep a lid on taxes should be acceptable to both wings without scaring either.
We should be wary of assuming all party positions map perfectly to the left to right continuum, or that policies that appeal to a certain ideological position necessarily alienate other parts of the potential voting coalition.
Problem with TV and film these days is all the social commentary is years out of date - social media has killed it. By the time a film comes out the cycle is done. The issue has been heard, people have been outraged and someone has posted a 24 post thread debunking it.
