Izvestia reports on how the Yasen-M SSGN will differ from the original Yasen, the Severodvinsk, including going from 139 to 130 meters in length, a crew of 90 to 64, from 10 torpedo tubes to 8, a more pointed bow, and greater munitions countermeasures.

@JacobGunnarson @Saturnax1 @CovertShores @AuthorJP_Ronald @JivTurky@KingNeptune767 If the blister on the Severodvinsk is a thruster it’s in the right place (roughly) longitudinally to act on the neutral point which would produce pure heave without pitching the submarine. Possibly could be part of the hover system.
Does anyone know what class of submarine this is. I believe it is russian. I’m interested in the blister on its side as it is very similar to the one on the Severodvinsk Class. @Saturnax1 @CovertShores @AuthorJP_Ronald @JivTurky@KingNeptune767
@CovertShores anything higher then a sea state 5. Surface suction forces might be to large. This is why I guess Ohio class SSGNs have been so successful. They have a very capable hover system. I wonder how capable the hover systems are on the SSN platforms such as LA class, Virginia class.
814 NAS have succeeded in some active tracking of ‘hostile’ submarines on #DynamicManta. Here’s some video of their 1st confirmed kill! Our Tiger boss said: We’re looking forward to more sorties working with partner nations as the complexity of the exercise develops @NATO_MARCOM
Have you ever seen inside a submarine? Watch LCDR Raffaele Martino give you a tour of the Italian Submarine he commands, Scirè. Raffaele and his crew are currently participating in #nato Exercise Dynamic Manta 2019, which officially begins today and continues through March 9.
#onthisday 100 years ago, German submarine SMU 118 washed ashore right in front of the Queens Hotel in Hastings, England
The submarine became a popular tourist attraction and helped the town to raise money for returning veterans.
One of the more exciting days on the job for this oil tanker captain. As I understand, the anchor managed to get caught on a old test torpedo off the south coast of England in 2017.

Victor III Class #Submarines where initially made with two, four bladed counter rotating propellers. Notice the two smaller double bladed propellers on the horizontal hydroplanes. Some kind of secondary propulsion??
