Myanmar Acheik is not just a traditional pattern; it is a symbol of our history and cultural identity.😍 Worn by Myanmar royalty for generations, Luntaya Acheik represents the artistry, heritage, and exceptional craftsmanship of Myanmar’s traditional weavers. Its intricate patterns carry a legacy that deserves recognition, not misrepresentation or erasure. Our heritage deserves to be acknowledged by its true origins. 🇲🇲

19th-century royal manuscripts (Parabaik) prove the distinct origin of Luntaya Acheik. Regional cultural exchange exists, but inspiration must never erase original historical origins.

Here is the history: During the reign of King Mindon of Myanmar, a princess from Chiang Mai visited Myanmar. When she returned to Chiang Mai, she took back the Burmese traditional Zawgyi dance (Weizayanta dance) and Myanmar handwoven Acheik textiles because she admired them. She also brought Burmese dancers back with her.
They admired Myanmar’s Acheik patterns so much that they incorporated them into their own traditional clothing designs, combining them with their own traditional styles. The same applies to the dance.
That is the history. But now, you are ignoring and erasing that history, claiming that these traditions originated in your country and belong exclusively to your culture, and are even planning to submit them to UNESCO under your own cultural identity.
Open your eyes and ears! We are speaking up because you are trying to claim our cultural heritage as your own. We will not stay silent while Myanmar’s culture and history are being misrepresented.🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲
