@johnkonrad I’m pretty sure the one in the photo is a Japanese crane. If I remember correctly, that’s the crane that was being used to transport Akishio (SS-579) to her new home at the The JMSDF Kure Museum. Would be cool to get a similar crane in the U.S. though.

@EngineerGrumpy @johnkonrad Aye that’s what I figured, I mean Steam Cats aren’t just plug and play. The layout of the ship is going to need to be completely redesigned. There’s no way that’s not going to cause delays.

@johnkonrad How long do you think the redesign process is going to delay the ships every into service at this point John? I mean I figure they’ll probably end up redesigning a good chunk of the ship since Steam Cats aren’t just plug and play.

Bit of a mixed bag update on my kits today. The Ki-67 Mothership assembly is going well, gotta say Hasegawa really did well with this one! The N1K Prototype is also nearly done, will say I’ve not had the best experience with it, but it’s come out decent so far.

@taroo17068998 Great Work! I will say, I find it strange that neither the G5N nor the E16A have had any plastic kits made of them. The Ki-74 I can somewhat understand, but still, you’d think someone would have done a kit of it. Just considering all the other obscure subjects floating around.

Started some preliminary work on my next aircraft project. 1/72 scale, and definitely one unique aircraft. Kudos if you can guess what it is.

The 1/700 scale Kinu is finally complete. I tried to do some rigging, but didn’t realize how much of a hassle it would be in this scale, so I only did two lines. With Kinu done, I’m now only missing Natori, Isuzu, and Yura, then I’ll have the full class.

@Marvin_L_Newman @johnkonrad @NextNavy Tree’s they have, and I am pretty sure they have the skillets for both tasks. What they don’t have is a a full crew or even her full complement of rigging/sails. So “sailing” her anywhere is out of the question.

@johnkonrad You know instead of risking Constitution, why don’t we just build our own tall ship? If the goal is representing the USN, then let’s grab some old designs from the archives (I vote for United States) and build a tall ship based on that for these celebrations.

@johnkonrad @NextNavy That’s definitely an idea, though I’d imagine you’d probably have to build a specialized support structure for her hull to reduce the risk of damage. As far as repairs go, sure we have a whole forest but it’s the irreplaceable 1797 timbers that are the problem. Just my two cents.

@tokugata1A @oukasirabe I’ll try my best to do her justice! Especially since Ocean Liner kits are rare as hens teeth so to speak. And yes I can definitely say I will be getting Taiyo at some point.
