@AndrewZ60494543@floyags Yes, the thing I hate about art today comes from schools. Every work displays with an essay about wHaT iT mEaNs because your prof required it.
Mature artists do this 🫣 If your work can't speak for itself, it sucks. If you can just express the idea in words, you're a writer.
@cljack There's an entire genre of ukiyo-e from Japan called boshi-e depicting intimate life of mothers and children. You can see babies were Donald-ducking it all the time and mom used intuition to help the baby when it was time for potty
@Etherealshaman@TexPlantLady@rawsalerts ?? Do you think they're drying bugs and crushing them into dust like paprika?
The cochineal beetle is crushed to release the carminic acid in their body and the resulting liquid is processed and purified to acheive a vivid red dye. It's just carminic acid. No bug bits
@TexPlantLady@rawsalerts Cochineal red / carminic acid has been used for centuries, actually. The beetles were domesticated in Central America for this sole purpose. They get crushed, and the resulting liquid is processed and refined. There's no bug matter.
