The math that powers LLMs is pretty straightforward and definitely not conscious. If you don't understand it, but you're curious and want to learn, I made a simple walkthrough of the process using a snippet from one of Napoleon's early letters to Josephine

@ThymeToBeBorn correct unfortunately. Divorce really sucks and I strongly recommend avoiding it if at all possible, but if you do find yourself there, you can at least take joy in your recovered capacity for deep thought and cognitively demanding tasks
okay I think it was totally unnecessary to film this woman who's crying for probably totally unrelated reasons, but MY CREDIT CARD IS ATTACHED TO MY SEAT NUMBER, I am absolutely the hell not moving
This possessiveness over seats is mean-spirited. Unless you've paid, it isn't hurting you to switch. Groups that initially picked seats together get split up after booking or simply never give you a chance to get them. Spending hours listening to tears to prove a point is weak.
@MatthewJRoth yeah the last-minute aircraft changes are a real jerk move on the airline's part and they should clearly be legally required to compensate you beyond just the seat fee refund
Personally I would simply not move back to the same place every single one of my ancestors risked almost certain death to flee at the first opportunity
The internet told them Europe was a social paradise. Turns out the trains are awful, the health care isn’t free, and people can be really mean. https://t.co/Hs4uzWMxxO
I call this the diva's paradox
if you tell your manager you have complete conviction in an idea, and they tell you "no," and your response is anything OTHER than leaving the company to do it yourself, you are signaling to them that you don't actually have conviction in the idea. if you're not willing to bet your career on the idea, why should they?
but then if you DO quit to pursue the idea yourself, your manager will get the message that they should take the idea seriously, but it's too late, you've already quit
so you need a way to credibly signal that you have a burn-it-all-down level of conviction in your idea without actually quitting
enter: the tantrum
@Ed_of_O yes, definitely a fantasy. obviously if you actually understand what you're getting into and commit to language learning etc you'll have a better time, but you could also just stay in America and spend all that time/effort on economically productive activities
no, I mean the situation where the woman repeatedly tells the guy she's not happy about something, but the guy reasons if she was really unhappy she would leave, so it must not be that bad. then when she leaves, he realizes it was a problem, but now it's too late to fix. thus the solution of tantrums. if your marriage is really bad and you're considering divorce I think you owe it to your kids to try throwing an epic tantrum before giving up
@DocMartinez2013 we got here on the second boat out of England when the death rate was like 80%, i guess death was preferable to another day in that place
