The internal name is Operation Safe California.

This is a statewide ICE sweep that started several days earlier in and around San Diego, with officers pulled from the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, and a plan to move north through Los Angeles and reach San Francisco by November.

Leadership told officers to arrest anyone they encounter, criminal record or not. One source put it as "Management want numbers." Another: "told to go after anybody, they can pick up anybody." The agency has not announced it. DHS would not confirm or deny the name and said it does not discuss operations.

The 45 days is the planned length of that surge, not a court deadline. It started in early October and runs at least through mid-November, timed a month before the midterms.
