▶️ Our results showed that total arch replacement for Type I DeBakey aortic dissection was associated with similar perioperative complications and 30-day mortality compared to hemiarch replacement, but with fewer interventions in the long-term follow-up.

What a day ! Another fantastic event by the “Jena Club of Cardiac Surgery Enthusiasts”
A big thank you to @AhmetKilicMD and @HopkinsCTSurg for collaborating with us to make this event a resounding success !
Stay tuned—there’s much more to come !
@metaacademy_ofc With the great @TulioCaldonazo on #ccta vs #cath for coronary assessment prior to valve surgery. CCTA less invasive, with similar outcomes to cath.
👏🏻 Wrapping up the year at the International Coronary Congress, incredibly well organized in London!
👉🏻Although supported by only few studies, CAD patients who undergo PCI appear to have worse long-term survival compared to the age-matched general population
No better way to finish this year than meeting old friends and talking about coronary surgery at the International Coronary Congress in the beautiful London 🇬🇧
Proud that our Jena team could significantly contribute to the scientific program!
I would like to thank the organizing committee of The EACTS/STS/LACES Latin America Cardiovascular Surgery Conference for this award! 🙏🏻 Very happy and proud to be part of the Jena cardiac surgery team 💪🏻
🚨 Check out our new work published in @AmJCardio
🫀 CCTA proves to be a safe & reliable non-invasive alternative to ICA for coronary imaging before valve surgery
✅ No increased risk of mortality, AKI, MI, stroke, or MACE observed

🫀TAVI is associated with⬇️postop. delirium compared to SAVR without compromising major outcomes
❗️It could implicate that delirium is either not as relevant in SAVR, or is not a causal factor, but only a surrogate for identifying sicker patients

Regional registry evidence supports the current notion of superior long-term endpoints with CABG compared to PCI for LM stenosis!
👉lower risk of death and MACE with CABG
👉 more MI and re-revascularization with PCI, but less stroke

🌎Excited to continue promoting the spread of minimally invasive cardiac surgery in Latin America!
🎥 This week, we had the state's leading TV broadcast cover our routine and interview our Mexican guest, who came to learn MICS in @uniklinik_jena

Excited to share our latest publication in the field of Meta-Analysis (Cardiothoracic surgery area).
Main topics : Use of Colchicine in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and POAF as main endpoint.

Colchicine might be beneficial in CABG.
Find out in our latest publication @AmJCardio :
👉Meta-analysis of RCTs:
perioperative administration of colchicine is associated with a significant reduction of atrial fibrillation rates after CABG❗️❗️

PCI or CABG for MVD in NSTE-ACS?-SWEDEHEART registry report:
👉 CABG is associated with ⬇️ risks of mortality, MI, repeat revascularization, and heart failure patients, particularly in high-risk subgroups!
📈 Delighted to present our findings at #ESCCongress
👉The use of FIB-4 to determine subclincal liver fibrosis may be powerful to predict mortality in CAD populations which may not show any evident clinical signs of liver dysfunction
👏🏻 @uniklinik_jena@WCM_CTSurgery
❗️Late-Breaking Science by @ToDoenst at #ESCCongress ❗️
👉In a regional registry analysis, SAVR was associated with increased long-term survival compared to TAVI - independent of the region of the world!
👉 Not a single study favored TAVI
👉10 out of 13 studies favored SAVR
🆕 Just released 🆕
📖 Delighted to announce the review of 2023's major findings on valve surgery in the Journal of the German Society!
🇩🇪A must-read for our German-speaking colleagues!

#BMEP Summerforum 2024 in Jena this weekend (program to support early academic careers). Always impressed by the competence level of these young scientists. Congratulations to all stipend recipients and the #HilmarStoltePrize winner! Long live the BMEP! @DAAD#ukj#lifesciences

👉🏻Patients with a CIED infection who undergo complete extraction exhibit a lower rate of relapse/re-infection
👉🏻Although it is acknowledged that it may be influenced by treatment allocation bias, lower mortality is observed
