As AI advances at a rapid pace, tech leaders are weighing how to manage its risks while staying ahead in the race against China.

CBS News' @jolingkent speaks with some of the biggest names in tech about their plans for keeping AI in check and addressing its potential dangers.

[Madison Mills @MadisonMills22]

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.

The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.

Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.

Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Such a useful and interesting conversation today on @CBSMornings on the Elizabeth Holmes documentary ⬇️⬇️⬇️

[CBS Mornings @CBSMornings]

Elizabeth Holmes is “almost unrecognizable” in Nathan Fielder’s documentary, “You Can See Everything,” to Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz: “The woman that I saw on screen looked, frankly, like a broken woman.”

Shultz tells @gayleking and @norahodonnell about his reaction to the film, speaking out about Theranos in 2015 and why the documentary is garnering sympathy for Holmes, who is serving a more than 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors: “She is not playing victim. She is an actual victim.”

[John Carreyrou @JohnCarreyrou]

A few readers have taken me to task for “missing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.

Our look at Prop 40 aka the billionaire tax this morning on @CBSSunday ⬇️

[CBS Sunday Morning 🌞 @CBSSunday]

California voters will decide whether to adopt Proposition 40, which would impose a new tax on billionaires' wealth.

@jolingkent examines whether the measure would deliver the benefits its backers promise — and why some progressives oppose it.

[Jo Ling Kent @jolingkent]

Why so many films on tech billionaires and founders rn?

@ErikDavis @RottenTomatoes: “tech has become impossible to separate from everyday life…each of these films they all approach the subject differently but reflect a shared curiosity about power, personality, accountability”

[CBS Mornings @CBSMornings]

Just 34 days before she reported to prison for her 11-year sentence, the disgraced CEO of Theranos Elizabeth Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, invited Nathan Fielder into their home for what would become his documentary, “You Can See Everything.”

@jolingkent breaks down the buzz around one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year.

In “The Social Reckoning,” screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkin draws a connection between Facebook and January 6.

Sorkin told @jolingkent the “one person responsible” for the attack on the U.S. Capitol “wouldn’t have been able to pull that off without” Facebook.

[CBS Sunday Morning 🌞 @CBSSunday]

“The Social Reckoning” draws a direct line between Facebook and the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Frances Haugen, the Facebook whistleblower who is portrayed in the film by Oscar winner Mikey Madison, told @jolingkent that Facebook was “asleep at the wheel” in the weeks before the attack: “When history looks back on this period of time, they’ll say, Mark [Zuckerberg] should have done more.”

👀 hi I have a few follow up questions…

[CBS Sunday Morning 🌞 @CBSSunday]

Aaron Sorkin's Oscar-winning screenplay for "The Social Network" helped define Mark Zuckerberg in the public imagination. Sixteen years later, Sorkin turns from Facebook's origins to its consequences.

He wrote and directed "The Social Reckoning," inspired by whistleblower Frances Haugen's leak of thousands of internal documents to Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz. CBS News' @jolingkent talks with Sorkin and Haugen about Facebook's power – and what it means for all of us. https://t.co/8oS8IdHxJo

Aaron Sorkin shares his process for overcoming writer’s block: “I like to drive around and listen to music. And I try to start arguments with myself.”

More from his conversation with @jolingkent about “The Social Reckoning,” which turns from Facebook’s origins to its consequences, airs this Sunday.

A new name for one of the biggest media mergers in history, per CEO David Ellison ⬇️

(Skydance is the parent company of CBS News)

[David Ellison @davidellison]

What once was the peak, is now just the beginning.

Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history — we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.

We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight.

We have big goals for Skydance, and we intend to pursue them with passion, imagination and a willingness to take smart risks. At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special — giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance.

I couldn’t be more excited about what we’re going to build together.
