@othockeytalk@twelcher15 I'm all for it (moving guys) if it makes sense. Thomas doesn't make sense given his age, contract and he's the only true 1C we have or will likely have (none of our prospects as of yet project as a 1C), so its utterly nonsensical to me to trade him and I still don't understand it
@othockeytalk@twelcher15 No, yea, we're not there yet, which is why it'd be silly to acquire him because if/when we get there (minimum 2 years from now at BEST), he'll be 32/33 and that's not at the timeline for the rest of this roster.
@othockeytalk@twelcher15 him even if we wanted to, which, again, I don't think the Blues necessarily WANT to. We found a deal that made sense with Buffalo. Things are getting twisted in the media I think.
@othockeytalk@twelcher15 have taken a LOT for us to move him. As it should. "We'll listen" doesn't necessarily mean "We want to trade him" and that's the difference for several of these guys. I'd put Kyrou in there too. Parayko is tough. He's arguably our best (2nd best?) d-man so it's hard to move
@ncnole99@TomFornelli "You just don't understand the grind that it takes to go through an entire SEC season. Mississippi State and Auburn at the bottom of the SEC are like playing the top 5 of the ACC or Big XII. iT jUsT mAtTeRs MoRe!"
@BluesReactor Noooooo
He's on the downswing of his career, he's already slowing down. His timeline doesn't align with what the Blues are doing. He's a 3C on a cup contender for the now, not in 2-3 years, which is what the Blues are looking at, at BEST.
@othockeytalk@twelcher15 he'd have a MUCH better supporting cast in STL than he does in DET so I'd disagree the Blues are in the same spot as Detroit, I strongly disagree there. We're on the clear upswing and Detroit... I don't know what Detroit is doing. "Floundering"? Also, I think he'd approve a trade
@STLBluesChirp Buddy of mine who is a diehard Red Wings fan: "He's a defensive 3C on a cup contender. He's getting older. His main asset is speed and he's slowing down. After speed, he doesn't have much else."
That's why not. He's a final piece for a contender in their window NOW, not in 3 yrs
@TheFourthPeriod I'm used to saying "well no because they don't have the cap space" but if they want someone they always ruthlessly find a way so I give up. Yes, sure they can.
@twelcher15 Legitimately interesting. As always, it'd come down to the cost. He'd slot in perfectly as the 1C/2C with Thomas. My only concern is he's at the very upper lid in terms of age for where the Blues are at: he's turning 30 this July. I'm not sure his age aligns with the Blues needs.
@othockeytalk@twelcher15 Why would he not? A legitimately exciting up and coming team that threatened for a playoff spot last year with (critically) the (1) cap space to take on his whole contract and (2) enough lack of center depth that he'd slot right in to his 1C/2C role with him and Thomas. Why not?
