Most Terrifying, back breaking drive through mud, mountain, rains and rocks continues. This time in reverse. It took us 15 hours to reach Rasuwa, SyabruBesi and the Chileme Tunnel, all places near the border with Tibet / China , the epicentre of the flash flood and now we are trying to get back to Trishuli. We must go the same way we came. And because it has rained all night; the path is even more dangerous and rocky- our wonderful and brave driver Kaman Daju needs our special thanks for his courage and willingness to help us report and bring you these stories. One or two people asked me if we used a helicopter to reach these border areas. I found the question incredulous and bizarre. As we get lurched about over stones and wet mud, steep falls on one side, this will be a gruelling 30 hours in the car going and coming. Often with no network and bad weather. We can keep debating the maths and methodologies behind the government’s GDP numbers.

But we cannot ignore the indisputable question:

Where is the economic growth in real terms?

The “exceptional” growth numbers released by the government are not translating into tangible indicators like: stronger private investment, higher FDI, better jobs and opportunities for our youth.

GDP growth means little if it does not help India to realise its demographic dividend.
