We had a go at making our own Speakbooks today to facilitate our AAC learning.
As someone who has never had trouble communicating, it was hard to figure out what I would want on my homepage but this is what I came up with!
@SLTHuddsUni
Something that I did notice during the #RCSLTstudentday, was that only me and one other person (out of the 350+ people on the zoom call) had their pronouns in their zoom name. It's such a small thing, but also a very easy thing to do to promote a more inclusive environment ☀️🌈
Another excellent @RCSLT Student to NQP Learning day! 🎉☀️ They're so great for providing reassurance before graduation and becoming an NQP. All the speakers were amazing 😊
#rcsltstudentday
I also start my second to last placement next week! My days will be split between the Adult Autism team and the Adult Learning Disability team at @allofusinmind. I'm fairly certain I want to work with adults when I graduate, so I'm excited to gain lots more experience! 😁 #SLT
Had a lovely afternoon chatting with service users from @Mencap_Kirklees as part of our learning about adult LD! The PPG sessions that @SLTHuddsUni organise are such a great way to meet and learn from service users & carers with lived experience of Speech and Language Therapy😊
Wonderful to hear about the impact of the work done by @dominiqSLT and co. Their project focussed on:
Capturing the voice of children and young people with learning disabilities using @TalkingMats
Such powerful outcomes both for children & parents, huge well done!
Results day today and received this from my course leader 🥹 worked so hard this year and got the results to show for it so this was really appreciated!! 💛
My advice for all the NQP SLTs:
Every time you get some positive feedback (from a patient, patient's family member, or a colleague) or you achieve something that you are proud of - Write it down (either in your notes app or a physical journal) (1/2)
The fact that I'll see Beyonce perform 5 days after my last SLT exam is the only thing that's motivating me to revise 😂 the queen wouldn't want me to fail!!! 👑
June is Aphasia Awareness Month. I'll be using that month as an opportunity to highlight (Retweet) the lived experience of #Aphasia from some fantastic people on here. So, I encourage all #SLT2b to keep an eye and getting sharing too!
I needed an extension for my last and easily my hardest essay of first year because it was so stressful. Got the results today.. 78%! I can't believe it! I would have been happy with scraping a pass for this one 🤣 so proud of myself 😎 #SLT2B
