As I stated tonight, we need to acknowledge & recognize the significance of today’s Fed holiday-a day our country took a step toward the promise that is America -as Lincoln stated a “nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

West Seneca’s service organizations — including the the Art Society, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Woman’s Club — raised a total of $3,450 through this year’s Christmas tree and art auction for local nonprofits!

Of the 250 COVID-19 patients hospitalized on 12/26, 161 were not fully vaccinated (64%), 43 of 59 ICU patients were not fully vaccinated (73%), and 30 of 43 patients with an airway assist were not fully vaccinated (70%).

COVID-19 Hospital Report for Dec. 26: Erie Co. hospitals had 250 COVID-19 patients (down 4 from 12/24), 59 of whom were in the ICU (up 3 from 12/24), 43 on an airway assist (up 2 from 12/24) and 46% of the patients were aged 64 and under.

I was able to help secure $500,000 in emergency state funding after a fire severely damaged a West Seneca Highway Department garage and several major pieces of equipment early Christmas morning. My full statement below:

After today’s meeting we are reminded how dedicated & professional our town employees, 1st responders, & volunteer firefighters are. Because of their actions, no one was hurt & equipment was saved. Services continue, but, may be delayed. THANK YOU to all who responded and serve.

Merry Christmas! An extra big thank you to all of our fire department districts who have been working overtime this holiday. They successfully battled a house fire Christmas Eve and have contained an overnight fire at the Highway Dept. No update yet on the extent of the damage.
