Update: it turns out that the answer from the cell company's database / bot didn't actually address the problem. I had to call their support number and repeatedly ask for a human being. 🤷

A funny thing happened: I used the automated chat systems of an airline, a cell company and a navigation device company over the last week. Each produced an apparently correct answer (though two required a second prompt before it understood what I was seeing).

These aren't necessarily AI systems, even though they're probably marketed that way. The important thing is that their databases contained the information needed to address my issue.
