At the CPD Homelessness Roundtable, we heard from Americans who found a way out and proved no one is a lost cause.
HUD is reforming federal homeless assistance to give people a real path out.
Our @HUDgov team was in Easton, PA discussing local impacts to housing affordability and what Opportunity Zones can do for their community. Also had the chance to tour the Simon Silk Mill and see one of the best adaptive reuse projects yet! TY County Exec Zrinski & Mayor Panto.
Our @HUDgov team hosted a Section 3 listening session in Philadelphia & heard from residents who built a pathway towards self sufficiency & broke the cycle of generational poverty. To paraphrase @SecretaryTurner “Government housing should be a trampoline not a hammock.”
We ended our day in Coatesville where we listened to local/state leaders, developers, businesses & residents on what is impacting affordability at the local level & how they can leverage federal opportunity zones to the City’s advantage. Thank you to Susan Springsteen for hosting
Happy to welcome the newest member of the @HUDgov Work & Dignity Coalition, supporting self sufficiency in HUD funded housing, the Chester County Housing Authority. Thank you to CEO Paul Diggs and his team.
We were also in Chester County today to address @HUDgov grantees from across Eastern Pennsylvania & the State of Delaware on the vital importance of community planning and development and how we, at HUD, can be their federal partner.
We then joined our friends at @hope_phl to see their myriad of housing options from eviction prevention through to home ownership. These two institutions have had a long history of servicing our neighbors in West Philly.
Earlier this week we spent some time in West Philly with some our housing friends. First stop was with Reverend Bonnie Camarda and her team at the @SalArmyPhilly. Excited to hear about their plans for redevelopment and renovation so that our seniors can age gracefully in place
