@TPPSkol The no-tag clause is the problem here. If Kyler has the big season we're all hoping for, he'd be dumb to sign an extension without hitting the open market first - he'd be the best QB to hit FA in a long time. So best case is JJ has that season, if only for the team control.

Both these guys are average starters, at best, and not leading you to the Super Bowl. Not giving up a day 2 pick for that, especially with all the guys above who you don't have to give up draft picks for.

These are guys you'd expect JJ to beat in a camp battle (and if you don't, you have your JJ answer) but would be okay options to keep the wheels on the season if JJ proves to be a disaster again.
