That said, my son applied two years ago for direct entry programs.

One that he got rejected at, we had friends on the admission committee.

They literally told us in confidence that because he was Indian, AND that his parents were physicians, they felt that they were giving away the seat to someone that 'would figure out a way' (their words) to become a doctor from someone that otherwise wouldn't.
