My mum retired yesterday from the same school she has worked at since I was in year 6.
She joined the school in the early-2000s, when we came back from Bangladesh, as an LSA. The school paid for her to finish her degree and get her GTP, on the condition that she worked for them as a classroom teacher for a few years after graduation. My mum took "a few years" to mean nearly 25! After teaching years 3 and 4 for many years, she became a Model Teacher (what would now be called a Lead Practitioner) before leaving the classroom to become Head of Maths for the school. Eventually, the school became an academy, and then the flagship in a MAT, and my mum stepped up to become Director of Maths for the whole trust, travelling between schools to support their teachers with delivering maths lessons to children who have only just learned about numbers!
In her time at the school and then the trust, she fell in love with a man who treasures her like she deserves and yesterday they retired together to their little house by the seaside.
I am so proud of my mum - a woman who hated maths as a child before going on to work teaching others how to teach maths, knowing first-hand the challenges faced by the kids. A woman who doesn't understand the concept of "taking a break" and "not thinking about work". A woman who would give everything to make the children more successful and would accept nothing less than the same effort from her team.
She'll never read this because she thinks social media rots your brain (she's not wrong), but I love her dearly and I'm so proud of the life she's made for herself. I wish her all the happiness for her retirement and I look forward to seeing how she uses all this free time that, after 23 years of 50+ hour weeks, she's suddenly going to have!
Key players not fit/completely depleted, and thank you for Mexico, but for a so called “tournament manager” that was no where near acceptable. He’ll have known from the day he got the job we’d probably play them in the semi and that’s what we come up with? Pathetic
At John Lewis, we never pretended money could be paid out regardless of what we had earned.
Government should be the same.
The triple lock is not sustainable. A smoothed earnings link would protect pensioners while being fairer to younger taxpayers.

Wow. Was that the best performance since our 66 final. Must be close. After a long day at Wimbledon yesterday I watched the game early this morning. Everyone was outstanding. Bellingham Kane Gordon Rice Pickford all brilliant. The whole team stood up. Onwards and upwards now.
It’s been a mad 15 years. It’s had everything thrown in there, from the highest highs to the lowest lows (on and off the field 😜).
My time was up, and no one was going to be able to make that decision other than me.
But in the meantime, I just want to say I ❤️ every single England fan and every single cricket fan who’s supported me over the years.
I ❤️ every single person I’ve walked out onto the field with representing England.
I could go on and on, but I hope you get the gist of how much I loved doing what I did for 15 years.
I’m looking forward to being a fan and supporting the team, and the odd day in hospitality won’t go amiss 🤣.
Family, friends, teammates, fans… I ❤️ yas all.

The word Legend is massively over-used in sport… but @benstokes38 is a bona fide Legend. A brilliant, swashbuckling, heroic warrior.
His match-winning century to beat Australia at Headingley in 2019 was the greatest innings I’ve watched by anyone, ever. Thanks Stokesy. 👍👏👏
Fun fact: More "Etonian scum" died during the First World War so that Rayner could grow up in a free country than the students of any other British school.
lets give a massive shoutout to the referee tonight
-didnt let saka take the corner after he was wasting time
-gave mosquera yellow card for time wasting
-didnt give madueke pen for a dive
-gave rice and arteta yellow card for CRYING
MASTERCLASS PERFORMANCE
"Kalau lo time wasting, gw bakal hukum lo."
Premier League butuh ini sih jujur, mengingat time wasting masih sering banget terjadi disana.
That would make the league much more entertaining.
@eNeecie Every other day a new motorhome appears in my mother-in-law's drive and Neil hands me another bucket full of jewellery and cosmetics. I can only assume he's got himself a part time job I'm too busy to ask about.
I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.
I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.
I wish the players, all the best this summer 🏴
I’m sure we have all now seen the footage of Metropolitan rozzers kicking a suspected terrorist in the head, repeatedly, when he was down.
We can all play a part in putting an end to this sort of police brutality. Mainly by not going around stabbing people.
That's because I wasn't interested in being used to boost the viewing figures of a pair of exceptionally arrogant men whose understanding of this issue drips with classism and misogyny, @campbellclaret. If you're genuinely interested in a debate I'm at a loss to understand why you're uninterested in interviewing @ForWomenScot, who secured the Supreme Court victory and are therefore THE leading voices on this issue. But perhaps your charming daughter has adequately represented the entire Campbell family's view, by describing them as 'ugly' women, with whom she wouldn't 'want to be in a room'?
Since public pensions were introduced there has been no age cohort which has withdrawn less than they put in.
Baby boomers withdraw around 130% of what they paid in. The closest to parity were those born in the 1920s at 102% of contributions.
The system requires a growing working age population and a growing economy in order to avoid total collapse.
