These idiots don’t understand how the Oscar diversity policy works
There are FOUR standards. A film must meet diversity TWO of them to be eligible for Best Picture
1. Cast, Story, Themes
2. Creative leadership, Crew
3. Industry access
4. Marketing/Publicity
Emma Thomas is a producer, Jennifer Lane is an editor. That means Odyssey has already met Standard 2.
Universal Pictures and has an internship program for underrepresented groups. That satisfies Standard 3.
The Odyssey qualifies for the award without having anything to do with its cast.
A new ‘ADVENTURES OF TINTIN’ movie is officially happening.
Peter Jackson is currently writing the script with plans to direct the film himself.

The solution to the theatrical problem is very simple. Extend the time before it goes to streaming. Make it 180 days. 6 months. If you don't watch it in theaters you won't get to see it for a long time. Studios have devalued their product by letting the consumer know there's no urgency. They're going to see it for "free" later. They've cheapened the business into a buffet and violated basic supply and demand.
Universal Pictures is extending its theatrical window in a major strategy reversal:
• The studio has committed to a minimum five-weekend exclusive run in 2026 and seven weekends in 2027 before their films move to home entertainment.
• The move is a major win for theater owners, who have long argued audiences won’t rush to cinemas if movies arrive at home just weeks later.
• “Our windowing strategy has always been designed to evolve with the marketplace, but we firmly believe in the primacy of theatrical exclusivity,” NBCUniversal Entertainment chair Donna Langley told the New York Times.

Movies should be seen on the biggest screen possible—there’s nothing like the magic of cinema coming to life right in front of you! Every moment feels larger than life and full of endless possibilities.
he's right. the oscars could be instrumental in helping save cinemas if they were more restrictive on what qualifies as a theatrical release in order to be nominated, but instead they bend the knee to streaming services
This.
How does the industry (UK massively included) expect projects to materialise if the people who create them can’t survive?
Feels like it hasn’t really thought about it ngl
