Apologies if you've seen this on other platforms, but I feel it bears repeating:
This Sunday, on Trafika Europe Radio, The Joe Show premiere takes an in-depth look at Portuguese fado, its history, literary connections, and future. What a show! (Check it out, seriously.)
I'm *giving away* a signed copy of THE MAGIC WORDS to help someone out there unlock the creative voice within. To enter the drawing, just leave a comment or like/share this post so I know you're real. ❤️ I hope these poetry prompts help you!

— Porque é que achas que nos batem?
— Para mim é uma questão culinária.
— Culinária?
— É. Acham que usamos de mais a massa cinzenta.
“Why do you think they beat us up?”
“I'd say it's a culinary issue.”
“Culinary?”
“Yep. They think our heads are too eggy.”
Is there such a thing as "thesis envy," akin to being in a restaurant and coveting someone else's food after yours arrives? Since deciding to research censorship in 1930s Portugal, I suddenly find myself fascinated by all things Anglo-Saxon England...

On this, my 36th birthday, I invite feel disposed to share with you my evolution over the past 10 years, at 26, 31, and 36, respectively. Infer what you will.
So apparent is my inability to withstand Lisbon's summer temperatures that strangers in cafes are offering me their seats closer to the door/fan, as the case may be. Three-shirt-a-day season has started...

I ordered a 10-pack of t-shirts online but, on arrival, it turns out they're a size too big.
I'm currently placing them in a sealed box with a note saying "open in 5 years." Hopefully t-shirts won't have gone out of fashion by then.
I'm writing an outline for my PhD thesis on censorship during the Portuguese Estado Novo and am wrestling with the temptation to name one of the chapters "The Empire Strikes Back: Suppressing Republicanism after the Proclamation of the 2nd Spanish Republic."
I'm very, very out of the loop with UK news and politics these days - can someone fill me in on what's going on with the BBC and why everyone's tweeting about it?
