@robwormald@dave_stewart@phishy Indeed. There's something so satisfying about doing something in physical reality after you're caught up in virtual land for 8+ hours a day, day after day..
@WellPaidGeek It's going on 8 years for me and I've always felt that... 12+ more years of this feeling to look fwd to, eh? There are days I'm absolutely amazed that I get paid to write code... like, with actual money!
@CaseyRomkes@_ewus @elborro @ChloeCondon I've always evaluated other developers by their tech and communication skills (and personal drive), never by gender. I'm always baffled why so many males out there are so scared of women that they have to trash them.
@zachleat What I find amusing is that even though some people look down on webdev, a lot of us who are in the webdev field both enjoy our work immensely and make a good living from it.
@aprilmillerlite From my experience I would say whatever method of learning you feel is necessary for you is most likely the right one. Some of us need the academia setting to learn, some don't. By "need" I mean whichever setting you feel suits you best, and only you know that.
@clauderic_d@dndkit Ooo this looks good! I'm about to redo an older project that utilizes dnd and I think this would be a good candidate to start over with!
@ladyleet Agreed. I tried to make my wife a piece of jewelry for her birthday one year... I ended up doing something else instead because my piece looked like I plucked it out of a trash can
@MeghanChayka Cat: "Now that humans are home they call me out for jumping on counters. I hope they go back to normal daytime lives soon so I can chew on plastic bags and barf them up all over again."
