NEW: Brendan Sorsby's agent, Ron Slavin, claims Cincinnati knew about the gambling addiction and took no action:
āIf anybody should be questioned or catching heat, it should be Cincinnati. Because they knew for two years and never said anything or didnāt do anything about it. Thatās the part of the story that gets lost.ā

@TomFornelli serious question I hope youāll answer: what have they done exactly? I havenāt heard them once say he was their QB1 this fall. Not once.
Iāve heard them say they are going to support him.
Iāve followed this since Sorsbyās issue came to light, and they inherited this problem, didnāt create it. They declared him ineligible when it came out and announced his treatment.
Sorsby filed for the injunction, not TT. In fact, Kessler approached Sorsby proactively to represent him. TT had no part in that.
The original judge had ties to TT so he recused himself. The visiting judge who then took the case had no ties to TT. In fact he got his law degree from U of Houston.
Then the injunction is awarded. That was not TT awarding it or colluding.
Since that point everyone went crazy accusing TT of all sorts of things. Sorsby hasnāt played a down for them. In fact according to USAtoday Sorsby played at Cincinnati last year even after UC was notified about his issues and hid them, yet no one has questioned UCās ethics.
So help me understand what TT has actually done. Since this isnāt Minority Report we donāt know what the future holds, but everyone is treating TT as if they have done what Cincinnati actually DID do and got away with.
"When Georgia goes high moral ground, watch out. That's a football program that should have its own Autobahn. Give me a break... This is a kid that did something idiotic, which is what kids do."
@colincowherd weighs in on Brendan Sorsby being ruled eligible in 2026
This is actually insane. ESPN and the SEC literally did all they could to keep Texas Tech from getting to the Championship series.
11-seed with the overall best record in softball. The only reason their RPI suffered was because nobody wanted to play them in non-conference.
100% should have been a Top 5 seed.
Joey McGuire on Steve Sarkisianās comments alluding to Texas Techās schedule.
Coach McGuire has talked to Texas State & Abilene Christian & would love to buy out those games to play Texas this season in Week 1. If not Lubbock, then @ATTStadium
āWe would love to play Texas.ā
( šļø @ChrisVannini )
In response to Sark saying the 2s and 3s could go undefeated with [Texas Tech's] schedule, Joey McGuire just said he's called ACU's Keith Patterson and Texas State's GJ Kinney and they are willing to play in Week 1 so Texas and Texas Tech can play each other in 2026.
Joey said in Lubbock but working on AT&T Stadium if Texas didn't want to come to Lubbock.
I'm such a @sportsiren Holly Rowe fan but I agree with Chris on this.
In football Texas Tech spends less on their roster than Texas and several SEC teams yet all anyone talks about is TT "buying players". Now I'm seeing the same double-standard in softball when anyone affiliated with the sport should be thrilled that a major university is investing so heavily in their program -- especially in today's 'football-only' culture.
Texas Tech should be applauded instead of having people throwing shade their way simply because they are going all in and winning.
For years in football the bluebloods of the sport used bagmen to help build their rosters under the table. Now that comping players and NIL are legal the bluebloods of the sport can't stand having to play by the same rules as everyone else.
Softball clearly has a little bit of that same blueblood arrogance, and the @GatorsSB softball team should be embarrassed for the "sore loser" mentality they displayed after the game today. No one faults these young ladies for being disappointed, but refusing to shake hands only reflects poorly on the University of Florida.
Furthermore, @bethmowins ought to be relegated to high school sports for sharing in this arrogance during the broadcast.
I'm a Michigan State alum, and like Texas Tech we've historically been chasing the bluebloods in our conference and nationally. The more success I see from Texas Tech the more I hope MSU's distinguished alumni are watching and learning from them so maybe we can join them as one of the "new bloods".
In the meantime, here's a message for Beth Mowins and/or anyone else covering Tx Tech's games going forward: if you're not going to discuss how much Texas, Florida, or Ohio State are paying for their rosters then kindly STFU about how much Texas Tech is spending.
Congrats to @TexasTechSB and good luck in the @WCWSsoftball !

Grant McCasland has been the HC at Tech for 3 years. Tournament every year. First round exit to an eventual elite 8 team. Elite 8 2nd year.
Looked to have a team that would make a run to the final 4.
He loses the 2nd best player in the country to a torn ACL 3 week ago and is in the round of 32 with a shot at the sweet 16.
But go on.
