I've known people who, year in and year out, are in a constant state of stress and panic about "the state of the world" in a way that genuinely affects the quality of their life. They're experiencing real, distressing emotions about vague abstractions they have no control over and no plans to take control of them. They truly believe they are on the cusp of a disaster, and never seem to become aware that the world is huge and complex and at any point in time, something bad is happening to someone because that's just life. Empathy doesn't seem to scale. At the point it becomes an abstraction, it turns into a kind of mental illness.
The BBC montage of the Colombia shootout soundtracked by @TheNational they showed before the game yesterday is easily one of the best things I've ever seen. Goosebumps. 🏴🏴🏴
Very much anti pubs/restaurants as a child forward activity but what the fuck is this trend of taking your absolutely dog EVERYWHERE. Would quite like to eat and drink surrounded by only adults, tbh
