We just concluded the Blockchain Curriculum: Train the Trainers Program, a 5-day intensive training designed to empower academe faculty and instructors to bring blockchain education into the classroom.

attended @PHI_Stellar Hackathon and won (okay, not really, borrowed it from the champs)
But it did remind me of something.

I used to join hackathons before, back when I was still figuring out how people turn random ideas into actual working things.

And honestly, it’s funny because the prize is not always the real win.

Sometimes it’s learning how fast you can think.
How fast you can explain an idea.
How fast strangers can become a team.
How fast a rough concept can become something people can understand.

That is what I love about spaces like this.

You get to see people build in public, under pressure, with limited time, limited sleep, and a lot of belief and coffee 😂.

The difference between a pentest finding and an exploit chain? Finding a misconfigured S3 bucket is table stakes.

Chaining it is the actual work:
→ Exposed S3 bucket contains app config with internal endpoints hardcoded
→ Internal endpoint has an SSRF vulnerability
→ SSRF hits the IMDSv1 metadata service at 169.254.169.254
→ IAM keys extracted from metadata response
→ Keys have RDS IAM auth permissions → lateral movement to prod database

Most AI security tools max out at step one. They find the open bucket and call it a finding.

Chaining is genuinely hard. It requires reasoning about application state across steps, not just pattern matching against a known vulnerability list.
