Throwback to @RealBanny explaining supination vs. pronation bias and how that impacts arsenal selection.🔑
✅ Supination bias guys may thrive >1 breaking ball
✅ Pronation bias guys will thrive with a CH
"[Find] that synergy and roll with it, as opposed to fighting it."
This is Willie Calhoun.
He went from getting cut, visiting death row to becoming an 8 yr MLB player...
All while being one of the shortest players in the league.
Here's his comeback story (that you need to hear):
After a great junior year making it all the way to the state semifinals, here are my

A look at the impact #MotorPreferences has had for Anthony and JC both as players and as coaches. #MPEFam
Both Anthony and JC attended an in-person clinic last winter and has done a great job with implementation with their own training. Great job fellas, keep up the good work!

👀 It is time to look at @MotorPreference !!!
@JustinVerlander is right... The increase of pitchers injury is multi-factorial:
👉Increased pitch velocity and emphasis on speed
Inadequate rest and recovery periods
👉Overuse and year-round playing without sufficient off-season recovery
👉Early specialization and year-round pitching from a young age
👉High pitch counts in games and practices
👉Inappropriate or excessive use of pitching types that strain the arm (e.g., sliders, curveballs at a young age)
👉Lack of individualized training programs that account for a pitcher's unique biomechanics
👉Insufficient focus on developing overall physical conditioning and muscle balance
👉The culture of playing through pain and minor injuries
👉The impact of new technologies and training methods not fully understood or improperly applied (e.g., weighted ball training without proper supervision)
👉...
🚨But for years, baseball has leaned on sports science for performance enhancement, now revealing its limits.
🤯 Denying its contributions would be foolish; biomechanical advancements are scientifically proven.
🤜Yet, its focus on physical forces neglects that the human body is governed by the central nervous system.
💪Athletes' bodies endure forces beyond their natural abilities due to excessive training, imposing effective but inefficient movements.
🚨Continuing this approach blindly is madness. With over a (or 2) decade's hindsight, it's clear baseball's governing science must evolve.
🤔Motor preferences, a key to efficient movement and an emerging science, challenge established norms, embodying the ever-evolving nature of scientific knowledge!
👀It's obvious that Shota Imanaga (#Terrestrial) and Justin Verlander (#Aerial) have distinct pitching motions, yet both perform at the highest level. This highlights the diversity in successful pitching techniques!
👍It's time to consider players psychological and physical preferences to tailor, as best as possible, their training and mechanics. It will bring them their optimum performance safely!
