Castle Cary station has been transformed by an £835,000 restoration this week, celebrating the history of the Great Western Railway and its early 20th-century heritage.

The station building was officially opened by Department for Transport Operator Limited (DFTO) Chair, Sir Andrew Haines OBE on Monday.

Funded by the @transportgovuk and The Railway Heritage Trust, the project has restored many of the station’s original features, while making it more accessible and welcoming for customers.

We're delighted to receive official confirmation that our battery-electric train achieved a world record distance of 200.5 miles on a single charge!

Officials from the Rail Performance Society (RPS) presented us with a Certificate of Achievement yesterday to endorse the record breaking journey.

Last night, we charged ahead and set a WORLD RECORD for the furthest distance travelled by battery-electric train on a single charge!

Not only did we smash the previous record of 139 miles set by Stadler in 2021, but we registered an incredible 200 miles! A fitting achievement in the year that the industry celebrates 200 years since the birth of the modern railway!
