Starkville Rotarians today heard from MSU Shackouls Honors College Asst. Dean George Dunn. Dunn outlined the robust academic program offered by the Honors College and the undeniable attraction that the college holds for the state’s best and brightest students.
I retired from our MSU Dept. of Communication on May 15. I will miss everyone, but I look forward to being more flexible for travel (especially to see family), Bible studies, and golf! I hope to see many of you at church, Rotary, ballgames, on trips, or possibly in the classroom.
The Miss. State University debate team won the university’s first ever national college debate championship at the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) National Tournament. The event was hosted at MSU thanks to the efforts of Brett Harvey and Cheryl Chambers.
Starkville Rotarians heard a presentation from Miss. State University Vice Provost Brent Fountain on the land-grant university’s transformation strategic plan. Fountain is a former Starkville Rotary Club president.
Starkville Rotarians heard from MSU College of Business Dean Scott Grawe. He is a former college baseball player at Iowa State University. He spent time in the private sector with Target in supply chain management.
Starkville Rotarians heard from Whitney Cox, administrator of Oktibbeha County Community Counseling Services, part of the state’s Community Mental Health Centers system. These adult mental health services are vital to the Starkville community and the region.
