BRIEFING — US–Iran Conflict: Peace Without Honor
The 2026 Iran war began with maximalist promises. It ended with none of them achieved. Indeed, the conflict has proven to be a virtually unmitigated disaster for the United States.

The Iran war is actively consuming the foundations of US primacy. A hegemon’s power does not rest on its ability to destroy targets in isolation. It rests on its ability to keep alliances cohesive, sea lanes credible and escalation legible. This conflict is undermining all three.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth states that the Strait of Hormuz is “open for transit” and the only thing preventing that is continued drone and missile attacks by Iran.
"Stripping air defense from a disciplined, high-compliance ally in the Indo-Pacific to sustain a listless Middle East campaign is a short-sighted strategic move that undermines a key relationship in the Indo-Pacific."

@donaldgorbachev@WSJ The relevant metric isn’t how many launchers are destroyed. It’s whether the Strait is insurable. Once strategic reserves become the policy tool, markets are no longer pricing “disruption.” They’re pricing “duration.”

@nntaleb The administration is already contemplating actions that could spike oil to $150 overnight, namely deploying special forces to Kharg Island (where virtually all Iranian oil is processed and shipped).

The U.S.-Israeli campaign continues to rack up real tactical degradation of Iranian missile infrastructure, air defenses, and internal security nodes, but these actions have not produced a plausible war termination pathway."

Amid a torrent of sometimes-shocking ICE cases, this one stands out.
ICE labeled a man "the worst of the worst," accused him of assaulting officers and posted his picture on their website — two days before DOJ charged him.
The man said ICE were actually the aggressors, lured him from his workplace, arrested him aggressively and detained him illegally.
The charges were dropped, but he was detained for six weeks, only winning release when a judge threatened to hold the administration in contempt.
Judge Nelson called the situation Orwellian and shocking. https://t.co/9FaN2X2btt
🧵Another new survey, done by the Israeli INSS (Institute for National Security Studies), reveals that only 0.5% of Israeli Jews "strongly oppose" the current war of aggression in Iran. Yes, that's right, only zero point five percent.
