@OpenUniversity Amanda Dewhurst is a disgrace to you as an institution aimed at helping people achieve degree qualifications.
I am waiting to hear your response to my complaint.
3 days ago my 77 year old dad tripped and fell at @Morrisons in a puddle of water leaking from a fridge. For 3 days we’ve been trying to contact the manager with no luck. Contact details please??? @Morrisons
This week's study helped me to understand how reframing a discourse can mobilise followers and attract new supporters, by using different words or phrases to convey their message that are powerful and different that the 'opposing' argument #B329Leadership#SocialChange#wk17
Activist Leadership brings together groups of people with a common vision or PURPOSE which can outlast any individual or organisation. #B329Leadership#week16
Resistance: Overt and Covert. It was interesting as I have witnessed covert dissent and even been a part of it without realising. I seem to remember a lot of 'misbehaviour' such as absenteeism and work limitation from students who disliked certain teachers #B329Leadership#wk15
I also learned how place-based leadership uses a more collaborative approach, usually involving leaders from many organisations in the same area as well as local people who live and work there. This makes the approach participative and democratic. #B329Leadership#wk14
This week I was introduced to tame, wicked and critical challenges which was new for me. It's interesting to see how the decisions made by Boris during a CRITICAL challenge (COVID) are still being debated today #B329Leadership#wk14
This week I learned about the difficulties managers in the NHS face when trying to achieve objectives that conflict with one another. For example patients want more available appointments and nurses want higher pay but the budget can’t accommodate both #wk11#OUB329#leadership
This week in #OUB329 I examined the difference in leadership in old, traditional hierarchical structures compared with current networked societies #wk10
Communities and voluntary organisations have more multi-directional processes of influence #Leadership
One key quality of collaborative #leadership is the ability to look to win-win solutions that combine the interests of all parties involved. Leaders can support collaboration through different activities while keeping their ego in check 👌🏽#OUB329#wk9
@OUB329 #wk8 I learned this week that is possible to have a diverse workforce without being necessarily inclusive.
Being inclusive involves empowering and making the most out of a #diverse workforce.
I also found it interesting to look at the differences between a manager and a leader.
A manager is someone who ‘aligns the efforts of many people’ whereas a leader ‘offers a path to achieve a vision’ #wk7#OUB329
Reflecting on #OUB329#wk7 I found the 4 dimensions of identity (remembered, reflected, programmed + created) interesting and how it’s possible to change the way we perceive ourselves and create a new identity
Reflecting on the global mindset activity, I scored highly as I am very interested in understanding different cultures. In my experience recruiting carers I have employed people from many different cultures and have seen how culture brings different ideas/behaviours #wk4#OUB329
Donald Trump may be considered a populist leader due to his ability to instil confidence in his voters through his ‘outstanding’ rhetorical skills but he certainly doesn’t have the gift of stunning good looks #Populism#B329#wk3
Precarity is something I’ve faced in all my working life. Similar to a zero-hour contract my business is not guaranteed each week as I may or may not have work depending on the weather. It is stressful and causes me high anxiety. #B329#wk2
This week I have learned about disruptive technologies and the impact they are having on businesses. The ever advancing technological developments are leading to turbulent times across many industries and a need for adaptive leadership. #B329@JoPears32231761
