🧵 Local #Montana issue that is not getting enough attention, spark-notes version:
- the rural town of Hysham, pop. 270ish, has not had clean water for weeks.
- the town was put under a ‘boil water advisory’ in late December that is ongoing.

@MTAGKnudsen Remember when you failed to pass a jobs bill because you went on a hike? We remember…😂
“Speaker Austin Knudsen, R-Culbertson, wasn’t a participant in the deal. He said he was up in the mountains Thursday and was outside cellphone range”

Fondly remembering four years ago when @RonJohnsonWI and seven other Republican Senators chose July 4th to visit Moscow, downplay Russian election interference and beg for a meeting with Prez Putin only to get negged and not get the meeting. https://t.co/V8tFEe8BoF
I was struck by the keen interest in #brexit developments among the Irish Americans I met in Anaconda, something I have found replicated across the USA. There is genuine concern about the need to retain an open border in #Ireland.
Yesterday Ambassador @DanMulhall & Consul General @odriscor met with the brand new Irish Caucus in the Montana State Legislature and Mayor of Helena @CollinsWilmot. Great discussions about Irish heritage and economic development between Ireland & the Big Sky state.🇮🇪#MontanaVisit
As always a super warm welcome to the historical @hiberniandigest & @LaohNational Hall in @anacondamt - GRMA! Amb @DanMulhall spoke to those assembled on developments in Ireland, US - Ireland & Brexit.
Butte, Montana is a city with a rich Irish heritage created by the thousands of Irish immigrants and their descendants who mined there from 1870 onwards. It was an honour to be able to pay tribute today to those who lost their lives in Butte’s terrible mining disaster in 1917.
Ambassador @DanMulhall laid a wreathe today at the memorial for those who died so tragically in the Granite Mountain / Speculator Mine disaster & other mining accidents in Butte. 2,500 souls were lost in mine related accidents including many Irish & those of Irish descent.
Thomas Francis Meagher, 1st Governor of #Montana, is memorialised in State Capital, #Helena, with a fine equestrian statue similar to the one on the Mall in #Waterford. Met the Lt. Governor, Kristen Juras & visited #Montana Historical Society with former Governor @stevebullockmt.
What a pleasure it was for me to visit the impressive AOH Hall in #Anaconda, #Montana, a town founded by #Cavan native, Marcus Daly (1841-1900) who became a Montana mining mogul. Enjoyed meeting local members of #AOH & #LAOH.
