West Germany recovered from the devastation of WW2 in 4 years. Japan in 8 - 11 years. South Korea after the Korean war in 4 - 7 years. Rwanda took 6 years after the genocide to recover economically. Poland took 7 years to recover after communism.

Apartheid was horrible. But it cannot be used as an excuse. The ANC has had 32 years to make South Africa a prosperous and respectable nation.

In a functionally competent civilization, a government does not need to deploy armed guards to prevent its own citizens from digesting a railway system into scrap metal.

The fact that South Africa must militarise its train tracks just to maintain basic structural continuity is the ultimate indictment of an elite class that lacks the baseline intelligence to secure its own foundational hardware.

The state inherited the most sophisticated, interconnected logistics footprint on the continent, over 30,000 kilometers of steel tracking designed to serve as the macroeconomic spine for freight economics and working class mobility.

Yet, through pure administrative negligence, vast swathes of this capital asset now resemble an active war zone. Stations have been stripped down to the bare brickwork, critical signaling nodes gouged out, and high voltage overhead lines chopped down to be sold by the copper weight.

This is not a regular crime wave; it is a total collapse of state asset preservation.

The catastrophic acceleration of this systemic hollowing traces directly back to a singular, brainless bureaucratic decree in late 2019, the abrupt cancellation of all private rail security contracts without a single contingency mechanism in place.

The state security apparatus deliberately walked away from its post, creating an immediate structural vacuum that organized criminal syndicates ruthlessly occupied.

When the subsequent pandemic lockdowns hit, the regime left its multi-billion rand logistical network entirely unguarded.

The consequence was immediate, mathematical, and brutal, over 80% of passenger rail stations were systematically looted and hollowed out in a matter of months.

The macroeconomic bill for this governance hubris is staggering. Rail vandalism strips close to R5 billion annually from the economy in direct asset damage alone, forcing Transnet and PRASA to continuously divert finite capital from infrastructure innovation to basic, repetitive disaster repair.

Concurrently, Transnet's freight volumes have choked down to a dismal 150 million tons when the broader industrial economy requires at least 220 million just to maintain basic equilibrium.

Bulk mining houses are violently losing global market share because they cannot transport commodities to deep water ports, forcing them to rely on thousands of highly destructive, carbon heavy road trucks that pulverize the national tarmac.

Worse still, the working class has been aggressively decoupled from cheap, reliable mass transit.

When terminal hubs like Dunswart or Kliptown are gutted, vulnerable commuters are violently displaced onto expensive, unregulated minibus taxi routes, hollowing out what little disposable income remains at the bottom of the demographic pyramid.

Now, the state has the audacity to engage in public relations theater. Ministers routinely tour recovered lines, bragging about spending billions in public funds to dispatch boots on the ground to protect newly rebuilt substations.

They are actively celebrating the reconstruction of infrastructure that they themselves allowed to be cannibalized.

This exposes the fatal pathology of the tenderpreneur state, a functioning, well maintained train station yields zero political kickbacks, but a destroyed train station creates a massive, multi-billion rand emergency rehabilitation budget to be sliced up and distributed among politically connected contractors.

You cannot run a modern, industrialized economy when your primary logistical architecture is treated as an open-air salvage yard.

Until South Africa implements ruthless, permanent protection of its industrial corridors and structurally locks out the illicit scrap-metal syndicates, service recovery is merely an expensive, temporary bandage on a terminally bleeding system.

If an administration cannot protect the physical tracks, it has absolutely no business trying to run the trains.

BREAKING: Sudanese born Christo Brown, has once again breached his parole after serving 8 years for violently raping a 76 year old Tasmanian woman.

Brown broke into her West Launceston home, demanded sex and money, and then raped the elderly victim while she screamed in agony.

The Jury convicted him of rape, aggravated burglary and demanding money with menaces.

He was sentenced to just 8 years jail.

He assessed as high risk of reoffending.

In 2025 the Supreme Court put him on a 5 year High Risk Offender Order with strict conditions including curfew, electronic monitoring and no alcohol.

He was released back into the community and within months he breached the order and bail, including drinking and failing to be at approved premises by 8pm.

In July this year, he pleaded guilty to multiple breaches.

This is exactly why high risk foreign born offenders should not be free in the community.

Revoke his bail immediately.

Keep him locked up.

And then DEPORT him!

There comes a time when citizens cease to be victims. In South Africa, that time is now. You cannot continue voting for incompetence.

What the ANC has done to Johannesburg is a tragedy of generational proportions. The financial hub of the continent is crumbling from systemic neglect, broken infrastructure, and institutional rot.

Demanding change requires breaking the cycle. If voters continue to tolerate mediocrity, they are actively choosing to let the decay spread country-wide.
