@howardtayler Always have a laptop with my session and campaign notes in an outliner and a monitor turned so I can show the players pictures of NPCs, monsters, and places. Sometimes use digital maps on a big screen. The players still prefer to use physical dice and physical character sheets.
The hardcover TALES FROM THE HINTERLAND by @mimi_albert is a gorgeous artifact and totally helping me convince myself I’m enjoying drinking coffee and reading in the freezing cold outside my local independent bookstore. (Maybe should’ve waited another week.)
I really loved THE HAZEL WOOD by @mimi_albert. It reminds me of Neil Gaiman's blending of mundane with the fantastic. The prose is beautiful, and the voice is so strong. The author’s way of conveying information and characterization is sharp, economical, and sometimes unexpected.
@evanescence I love this album so much. My pre-order hasn't arrived, but I've been wearing a groove in the internet, playing this on Spotify. After the longish hiatus, I was concerned about this one, but it's as strong as the rest--still Evanescence without being just a rehash of old sounds.
@tomkleingers The accusations of fraud aren’t themselves the incitement; they’re fuel. He spent weeks getting people riled up, and then directed them to March on the Capitol using language that seems to me (and evidently to them) designed to inspire violent action to take control of it.
@tomkleingers Insurrection is a strong term, and I don't use it lightly. I'm confident that it's appropriate (and legally correct) here. I've no doubt that some people thought they were just playing at this and making a show, and I agree they had no chance, but this isn't stuff to play at.
@tomkleingers Let me try that a different way. I think we’re largely in agreement, Tom. But I don’t think a person who has different opinions or different intensities of feeling about situations that are, in fact, different is necessarily being hypocritical.
@tomkleingers I agree that violence never gets a free pass. I don’t think it’s valid to equate all protests or judge them solely on the basis of how much destruction or violence there is, though. Their cause and goals matter as well, and no action like that is monolithic.
@tomkleingers Violence and insurrection are different things. Both are bad. One is vastly more dangerous and far-reaching. A leader inciting either, in an attempt to remain in power or boost his chances for future power, is different in kind from a protest turned violent.
This app makes it very easy to contact your members of Congress if you want them to do something like...I don’t know...maybe remove a President who incites insurrection. https://t.co/f6EWy4bokM
@literaticat @Aimee_Marie_S My understanding is that impeachment proceedings don’t have to conclude before he’s out of office, and it prevents him from holding office in the future.
