One of the most common coaching rules in basketball is to pull someone if they're in foul trouble. But what if this is wrong? Using #NBL data, I analysed three seasons and found that players were almost always subbed when they got into foul trouble
The lesson is this: coaches are more likely to limit their own players' minutes than any foul trouble is. Points count the same whenever they are scored, and benching due to foul trouble is more costly than a player not closing a game.
In preparation for #NBL27, I built a model to try predict how impactful the next rookie class would be. The results? Sydney have done well, and the two best players aren't playing in the NBL this year. Link below.
Melbourne United is 9-0, operating like a well-oiled machine.

Source: Longtime NBA assistant Jonathan Yim has been named head coach of Southland Sharks of the NZNBL. Yim most notably worked with Terry Stotts in Portland. He’s also worked with the Clippers, Lakers, and Hornets.
The New York Knicks and two-way center Ariel Hukporti have agreed on a standard two-year NBA contract, sources tell ESPN. The new deal for Hukporti includes a team option in 2025-26 season. The 7-footer out of Germany has served as a viable big man in Knicks frontcourt.
@onballcreator They didn't. Henshall was playing in the NZNBL with the Otago Nuggets. Toohey did go to the US and worked out with Jordan Lawley for a bit.
