Dissenting voices have been oppressed in #Azerbaijanfor over a decade. Since the announcement of Azerbaijan as the host state of #COP29last year, the clampdown on critical voices has intensified. Act now and demand Dr Gubad's freedom: https://t.co/CRYjis74Az
I have been the Special Rapporteur on #Iran 1 month. During August 2024, at least 93 individuals were executed. Based on information received, only a fraction is officially reported by the Islamic Republic of #Iran, highlighting the need for transparency. https://t.co/vVfWuexkMI
«The alarming new arrests and detentions targeting government critics must not be overlooked. The international community must condemn it in the strongest possible terms.» @AmnestyEECA about latest arrest of researchers in Azerbaijan ahead of #COP29 https://t.co/pEWp0lkbVo
🇹🇷A few months ago, I had the honor of visiting prisoner of conscience Can Atalay's parents in #Türkiye. At that time, I emphatically reiterated @amnesty's unwavering commitment to rallying people worldwide for his immediate and unconditional release.
We urge the Turkish authorities to release Can Atalay and all the other Gezi Prisoners of Conscience.
Can Atalay is one of five Gezi defendants serving an 18-year sentence following a politically motivated prosecution. Despite the absence of any evidence of wrongdoing, he has been unjustly imprisoned for over two years.
As @amnesty marks the 10th anniversary of the Arms Trade Treaty, we’re calling on states parties to urgently implement their obligations under this treaty and stop the transfer of arms to Israel.

Memorial: We cannot forget the political prisoners still incarcerated in Russia, whose rights are violated daily. There are still 764 political prisoners in Russia recognised by @pzk_memo_eng. They need us to support and fight for them even more than before.
Sasha Skochilenko skulle aldri ha blitt dømt til 7 års fengsel. Amnesty vil fortsette å kjempe at alle som sitter urettmessig i fengsel for sine ytringer i Russland og Belarus blir løslatt:

Political prisoners in #Bahrain's Jau prison have been cut off from regular calls for almost 3 weeks amongst other violations; so my father, Bahraini Danish prisoner of conscience Abdulhadi Alkhawaja, has threatened to take non-violent action starting Thursday if the regular calls are not reinstated.
My father and all other political prisoners should not be in prison to begin with and must be immediately and unconditionally released. Bring my father home.

Superb interview by @irunguhoughton to CNN on #Kenya repression of protesters, taking to the street against new taxes impacting on their already deteriorating standard of living.
@amnesty has been training Protest Observers deployed globally as part of its #ProtectTheProtest campaign. They are all hard at work in Kenya. Please take care dear colleagues.
Good news from the Philippines!
The final fabricated charge against former Filipino senator and human rights defender Leila de Lima has been dismissed. https://t.co/Xn0f0owkMH
@frankctangberg Snøhetta forteller jo også i artikkelen at de har totalansvar. De hyrer inn og betaler alle kontraktørene. Har de kontroll på forholdene for arbeiderne? Mange av dem er høyst sannsynlig migrantarbeidere.
Detained activists must be immediately and unconditionally released. The authorities’ unlawful prevention of the #TransPride is in violation of the right to peaceful assembly, also guaranteed under Türkiye’s constitution.
In solidarity with all those who wish to celebrate #Pride

The usage of image recognition cameras by @networkrail in the UK on passengers is alarming.
Using such tech without consent against people not just violates privacy, equality, and non-discrimination rights, it is also scientifically questionable.
