Another outstanding stop by our night shift officers using the Grappler!

While proactively patrolling the hotel district near 95th Street and I-35 highway late at night, officers spotted a vehicle committing multiple traffic violations. When they attempted to stop the car, the driver fled momentarily. Thanks to good training and the Grappler Police Bumper, the vehicle was brought to a halt.
The driver ran from the car but was quickly caught by a fast-footed officer. This suspect was wanted on a kidnapping warrant and now faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, fleeing, interference with law enforcement, and driving on a suspended license.

WARNING: New Mail Theft Crime Trend

Thieves are targeting outdoor post office mailboxes to steal mail containing checks. They "wash" the checks, altering the payee and amount, and drain victims’ bank accounts! There have been several reports of this around Johnson County, including here in Lenexa.

To protect yourself:
✅ Avoid using outdoor USPS mailboxes, especially after pickup hours.
✅ Use the mail slot inside the post office for safer drop-offs.
✅ Use a gel pen when writing checks which makes them more difficult to "wash".
✅ Don't use window envelopes which can show that a check is inside.
✅ Consider electronic payments like online banking or apps for added security.
