Studies on the role of background music for sake of learning and attention show varied results but collectively show that if your goal is focus and information retention then working in silence > purely instrumental music > music w/lyrics… BUT that listening to music during brief (5-20min) breaks between cognitive tasks (done in silence) is best.

Most often I read about AI being used for copyrighting, coding and image generation so it was refreshing to hear today from a friend about his use of AI to improve the efficiency of his business in another way - ie. to optimize the layout of patterns for machine cutting.
I was discussing our new product today with a critical friend to try to work out why sales aren’t as high as I’d expect…
As we went through the customer journey he said: “well it’s like you’re giving them homework isn’t it?”

@dougalshawBBC @andymturner I developed a service like this many years ago with sms codes - agents weren’t interested . They thought it would stop people calling them directly so they would lose control of the relationship. (We did it with car dealers too - same problem).
Innovate UK ran a competition for entrepreneurs with ideas to tackle the covid crisis. Thousands applied, were scored highly, then rejected. With so much virtually free cash available, why are potentially lifesaving ideas going unfunded?
