On 17 Dec 1942, the British Parliament fell silent as they learned the full horror of the Nazi extermination programme.
Britain's 'Secret Listeners' had captured chilling eyewitness evidence.
What they overheard stunned even the most hardened intelligence officers:

Having landed in Normandy, women serving with the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS) set up camp at No 79 General Hospital outside Bayeux, 20 June 1944.

Suzanne Lenglen is among the champions from Wimbledon’s first 50 years presented to King George V and Queen Mary as part of the jubilee celebrations.
She was due to play a singles match v Evelyn Dewhurst (GB) at 4.30 followed by a doubles match, but the singles match was moved to 2 PM to accommodate the royal visit.
This clashes with a doctor’s appointment, so she sends a message asking the referee to reschedule it – but the message isn’t received. She arrives at the grounds at 3.30 having left Queen Mary waiting for an hour. She is confronted by angry officials and refuses to play either match.
Keir put the UK firmly back on the world stage - from unwavering support for Ukraine to standing up for Britain, including being the 1st PM to refuse to join a US war since Wilson.
From renters to workers to parents, the benefits of his time as PM will be felt for generations.
23 June 1912. Alan Turing was born in London. He was a key influence on theoretical computer science with the Turing machine which is considered a model of a general-purpose computer. His contribution was not recognised during his lifetime, but he’s now the face of the £50 note.
Today is the 165th anniversary of the Great Fire of Tooley Street.
Pioneering firefighter James Braidwood lost his life.
He is commemorated with a statue in Edinburgh and by the name of the street leading to the basement of the More London complex.

53 years ago yesterday, on June 21, 1973, nearly 60 women tennis players met at the Gloucester Hotel to form what is now known as the WTA.
While some of the founding members have passed on, others are fortunately still here.
Building the foundation of women's sports was not easy, but l am so glad to see how far we've come. I remain full of gratitude for all of their hard work, which made what we accomplished together possible.

I cannot disagree with anything @JohnSlinger says here, and others share our views.
No one should be led to believe that most Labour MPs want to oust a sitting Labour PM, they don’t. We want stability, delivery and focus on what we were elected to do.
My members are livid about the prospect of an utter stitch-up & the media circus being rewarded. When the next leader cannot change Trump, Iran, Ukraine, Putin, Musk, broadcast editorial & algorithm bias overnight they’ll bay for his blood too. Better keep that guillotine sharp.
My father, Bill Moffitt, and my mom Betty, were two athletes raising two athletes.
As a result, one might think my brother Randy and I were raised in a family that valued competition, grit, and tenacity. And we were.
But more than anything, my dad never cared about winning. What he did care about is that Randy and I worked hard and gave 100% to our sports.
This is a lesson I carried with me throughout my playing days and beyond.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads and to those serving a father role in children's lives.
And to my dear father, you were one in a million. I love you.
There is far too much Westminster gossip and not enough focus on the people we are here to serve.
The public expect us to focus on the job we were elected to do, not indulge in endless internal noise.

The attack began near a mosque & ended with 5 people injured. Last night’s midnight bulletin on Radio 4 had the story half way down the running order and this morning’s 9 am bulletin had a 20 second read
Ukrainians take to the streets of Kyiv for pride 🌈 It was led by the LGBTQ military group who are calling on Ukraine to change its laws around marriage and civil rights so that gay soldiers risking their lives have the same rights when they return from the frontline.
If the @UKLabour party channeled the energy most members put into internal factional battles to being the party of government we would be unbeatable
As I’ve said before there is nothing a lot of members and some Labour politicians hate more than a Labour government
